Prayer Topic: Identity in God
Someone who is wrestling with placing their identity in God is most likely placing what they believe about themselves in something else. Remind them that when God created our identity, He fashioned it to be constant and unchanging so that even when we sin and mess up, we can be confident that we are forever loved, useful, and powerful because of His spirit in us.
When we place our identity in things like life experiences, opinions, people, bank accounts and our own abilities, we can miss opportunities to be fully used by God.
Possible Things to Pray for:
- Renewed sense of self in Christ.
- Authority that comes from the Holy Spirit over thoughts, words and deeds.
- Help replace negative self-talk with truth from God’s Word.
- Healing from past events that may have caused them to second guess who they are in Christ.
- Surrendering and silencing the thoughts that are hindering God from using them.

Colossians 3:12 NIV - Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
